Gig Review Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something at Base Camp

It's not very often that I go to a gig on a Tuesday night but with a show that this there was no chance I would miss it. It's also my first Base Camp gig of the year a venue that has become a favorite of mine.I had not long finished work before I headed down to the venue. I got to the venue and everyone was in good spirits and ready for for live music that Art Mouse Promotions had on for us.The first act was Sheffield band Duck. I first saw these perform at last years Mousetival gig with two members on stage Sarah and Chris. This gig they had all three members with second guitar player Evangeline. The band kicked off the show with a set filled with loud synth pop/rock music that the people in attendance really got into. Everything about them feels very unique. The music is at times very catchy and upbeat with a certain groove to it all and and at other feels more dark and mysterious. They were the perfect choice to kick this show off with. Jemma Freeman and the Cosmic Something then hit the stage with the song "Count to Ten" the absolute perfect way to kick off with the song really ticks all the right boxes for what was in store. The set was mostly songs from the latest album. An album that I know very well after so many listens since it came out. Favorite moment for myself would have to be the single keytar(I was Busy), the none album track "Find a Place" which just sounded outstanding live and Heaven on a Plate which is my favorite of the album. Everyone of the bands songs feel like they stand out from one another giving you such a different experience as the show went on. Jemma I find also has a very distinctive voice which they make work within the context of the song subjects and overall experience of the bands set. That's what I felt the whole set and was a total unique experience, They have it all hard hitting rock songs some more chilled songs and everything between. Everyone around me really enjoyed it and we got a good look at the type of act Art Mouse will be bringing to the local area.
