2020 is here and this was my first gig of the year. Kicking my live music year in Stockton's Music Lounge I got to the gig early. Maybe a little too early as I was at the venue before anyone else including the acts on the bill. But I didn't mind I got to have a quiet pint before everything started. I was getting a little concerned because for a while it looked like I would be the only one in the venue who wasn't staff or a part of one of the acts ready to perform. But fear not before the first act was getting ready to perform his set more people turned up. The first act was an acoustic performer called Jon Horne. He went straight into his set with a luck of relief that more people decided to get down to catch his set. He played a very upbeat set with politically influenced songs. His style had hints of blues and hints of Bob Dylan style of song writing. I very much enjoyed his set and on song was stuck in my head after he finished it. A song called "It's Just The Drugs". He finished his set with a cover of Velvet Undergrounds song "Sweet Jane". A fantastic way to start my year of going to see live music off. I then was absolutely ready to watch more live music. Ten Foot Tom and The Leprosy Crooks toke the stage and let me tell you these sounded spot on from start to finish. The bands garage rock style is something that they have perfected. A loud and dirty distorted sound with some phat sounded bass and rhythm to back it all up. There's also hint of various other music genres shot in the mix likes Blues, Soul and some good old Rock N Roll. My friend who was also in attendance told me to listen out for a song that's a favorite of his called "Friday Night". In credit to him it is a very good stand out song. So overall when it comes to the music both acts smashed it out of the park. I do wish more people could have made it down to see these fine acts but the people who could make it seemed to really enjoy what they heard.
