I’ll start by asking where did the name “The Seamonsters” come from? The Seamonsters came from a dance and drama group we used to all go to together when we were like 10. We all got cast as seamonsters in a play and we just found it so funny that it stuck
Who would you say the bands overall influences are? We have a lot of 80s influences like Pulp and Altered Images but are constantly finding new music and sending it to our band group chat for inspiration. We love listening to all sorts and supporting other bands as best as we can.
During the current lockdown how have you as a band been keeping things going creatively? We've been trying to write songs over google drive which is a new one for us. We're so used to sitting on the floor in a circle and just coming up with ideas altogether. We've been doing as many live streams and acoustic sets as possible but we've had so much uni work we've not been able to be as active on social media as we'd like to be. It's also hard to keep pushing content when you're not together to create what you really want to create.
Do you have any plans for when everything’s back to normal? A few rescheduled things here and there. Hopefully, we can sort rescheduling our tour too because we were beyond excited for it. It's so hard for anyone to predict when the world will go back to normal so we're fairly hesitant to plan too much. Having said that, new music should definitely be on it's way!

You’re most recent single “How To Be Famous” certainly seems to have had a positive response. How do you feel the response has been and what can you tell us about the song? The response has been so good and it's definetely our favourite song we've released so this makes us so happy! The song is about social media and Instagram and just the modern world we're living in really. It's about people's obsessed to gain followers and become "famous" and all that.
Yea have played gigs and festivals all over the country what have been some of your favorites so far? Ahhh so many to choose from. Isle of Wight festival is up there, it felt like a real turning point for us like we were playing at midday in a tent to not many people but we were like shit guys we're at the Isle of Wight festival, it's the stuff you dream about. We also supported Jimmy eat world in our hometown Sheffield which is mental, it's a band we've grown up listening to so getting asked to do this gig two days before the show just blew our minds. Also any gig we do in Middlesbrough or Liverpool is always great, the people are just so welcoming there and we've never had a bad experience in either place. Up the Boro hahhah!
And finally if yas could recommend five acts for people to check out who would they be? Definitely Dream Wife, a lot of people will have heard of them but if you haven't, it's mind-blowing stuff. Cora Pearl from Sheffield are great, lots of trumpets and good times. Be quiet shout loud for sure, they're one of the best live bands around and deserve to be massive. Also gonna have to say The Crookes our favorite Sheffield band, sadly they're not together anymore but there's still plenty of tunes on Spotify, etc if you've never listened before. Finally, we'll go for Sophie and the Giants, they're a super exciting new band who are literally taking the world by storm, you love to see it!
